Maryland Vehicle Protection Product (VPP) Program
The Maryland Attorney General's Office oversees the Vehicle Protection Product Warranty Registration Program to ensure that vehicle protection products (VPP) sold or offered for sale in the state meet specific legal standards.
What Is a Vehicle Protection Product?
A vehicle protection product is designed to prevent or deter auto theft and comes with a written warranty. Examples include:
- Alarm systems
- Body part marking products
- Steering locks
- Window etch products
- Pedal or ignition locks
- Fuel ignition kill switches
- Electronic, radio, or satellite tracking devices
