Defendants sentenced to 45 and 25 years for murder and armed robberies across
Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and Worcester Counties, Including Ocean City
BALTIMORE, MD – Attorney General Anthony G. Brown today announced
that two defendants have been sentenced for charges stemming from a long-term investigation
into a violent criminal organization operating in and around Baltimore County, Anne Arundel
County, and Worcester County, Maryland, as well as the District of Columbia. The charged
conduct includes a campaign of violence that started with three shootings in a 17-hour period.
The group went on to commit a murder before traveling to Ocean City, Maryland, in June 2022,
where they committed several armed robberies.
“This shocking and senseless string of serious crimes traumatized victims and claimed a young
man’s life, sobering reminders of the devastating damage caused by violent criminal
organizations armed with illegal guns,” said Attorney General Brown. “Our Office will do
whatever it takes to protect Marylanders from destructive, life-altering crimes, and hold
accountable those who terrorize our communities.”
The defendants are Jordan Moses, 18, of Anne Arundel County, and Takala Robinson, 22, of
Baltimore City. The investigation was led by the Attorney General’s Organized Crime Unit. A
series of violent crimes were linked to a group of individuals including juveniles. The
investigation revealed that Moses and Robinson were responsible for the murder of Anthony
Johnson, a 17-year-old Glen Burnie student, that occurred on June 1, 2022. A few weeks after
the murder, Moses and Robinson traveled to Ocean City where they continued their violent spree
by committing three armed robberies in several days. Moses and Robinson were arrested in
Baltimore County the next day. A handgun recovered from Moses was found to be consistent
with the handgun that was used in the organization’s other crimes. Moses was also in possession
of some of the property that was taken from the Ocean City robbery victims.
On December 5, 2024, Robinson pleaded guilty to participating in a criminal organization
resulting in death, conspiracy to commit the murder of Anthony Johnson, and armed robbery. On
January 10, 2025, Robinson received a sentence of 25 years of incarceration.
On January 10, 2025, Moses pleaded guilty to participating in a criminal organization resulting
in death, the first-degree murder of Anthony Johnson, and armed robbery. On May 28, 2025,
after a contested sentencing hearing, Moses was given a life sentence, suspending all but 45
years of incarceration.
Both defendants were sentenced in front of the Honorable Judge Beau H. Oglesby of the
Worcester County Circuit Court.
In making today’s announcement, Attorney General Brown thanked his Criminal Division,
including Criminal Division Chief Katie Dorian, Organized Crime Unit Chief Paul Halliday, as
well as Investigations and Prosecutions Support Unit Chief Zach Norfolk and Assistant Attorney
General Alicia Kuhns, who prosecuted the case. Additionally, Attorney General Brown thanked
members of the Anne Arundel Police Department, the Ocean City Police Department, and the
Baltimore County Police Department. Attorney General Brown also thanked the State's Attorney
for Anne Arundel County Anne Colt Leitess, the State’s Attorney for Baltimore County Scott
Shellenberger, and the State’s Attorney for Worcester County Kris Heiser, for their assistance in
this investigation.
