BALTIMORE, MD – The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General identified the decedent and the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) officers involved in the incident that occurred on Monday, December 15, 2025, in Silver Spring, Montgomery County, Maryland, in which the decedent was taken into custody and brought to the hospital where he later died from a medical crisis.
The decedent is identified as 31-year-old Jamal Thompson of Silver Spring, Maryland.
The involved officers are identified as MCPD Officer Kevin Argueta a 15-year veteran; Officer Kyle Conley a 6-year veteran, Officer Rebecca Davis a 6-year veteran, Officer Rachel Hopko a 10-year veteran, Officer Kimora Maier a 3-year veteran, Officer Maxie Weisz an 11-year veteran, and Officer Colin Staszewski a 1-year veteran. All officers are assigned to the Patrol Division.
The IID continues to investigate the circumstances of the release from custody incident. Anyone with information about this incident, including cell phone or private surveillance video, is asked to contact the IID at (410) 576-7070 or by email at [email protected].
The officers on scene were equipped with body-worn cameras which recorded the incident. The IID will generally release body-worn camera footage within 20 business days of an incident. There may be situations where more than 20 days is necessary, including if investigators need more time to complete witness interviews, if there are technical delays caused by the need to shield the identities of civilian witnesses, or to allow family members to view the video before it is released to the public.
