Decedents and Officer Identified in Fatal Police-Involved Collision in the City of Baltimore

BALTIMORE, MD – The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General has identified the decedents and officer involved in the fatal vehicle collision​ that occurred on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in the city of Baltimore, Maryland. 

The decedents have been identified as 20-year-old Gabriel Castillo of Hyattsville, Maryland and 22-year-old Ezequiel Eduardo Garcia-Chicas, also of Hyattsville. 

The Maryland Transportation Authority officer is identified as Officer Jamal Cofield, who has been with the department for 11 months. Officer Cofield is assigned to the Central Command Detachment-Patrol.
