BALTIMORE, MD (March 11, 2025) – The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General has identified the officers involved in the fatal collision that occurred on Friday, March 7, 2025, in Capitol Heights, Maryland.
The involved District Heights police officers are identified as Police Officer First Class Shivesh Butani, an 11-month veteran of the department with 5 years of prior service and Sergeant Byron Stevens, a 7-month veteran of the department with 14 years of prior service. The involved Capitol Heights police officer is identified as Officer Michael Montgomery, II, a 9-month veteran of the department. All officers are assigned to their respective Patrol Services Divisions.
The identity of the decedent, who is a juvenile female, is being withheld in accordance with juvenile privacy laws.
