Lawsuit Alleges that Intrepid and Manoff Engaged in Deceptive and Unfair Practices in Selling Purported Paralegal Services to Consumers
BALTIMORE, MD – Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced today that his Consumer Protection Division filed charges alleging Intrepid Paralegal Solutions LLC and its majority owner and CEO, Daniel D. Manoff violated the Consumer Protection Act in connection with their offer of paralegal services to consumers.
Intrepid and Manoff marketed their services to individuals who were facing a variety of legal issues. The charges allege that while Intrepid and Manoff claimed to be providing paralegal services, they were in fact performing substantive legal work and engaged in the unauthorized practice of law. The charges further allege that Intrepid and Manoff falsely represented that the company worked with attorneys to provide the consumers with its services, including by listing attorneys not involved with Intrepid’s work for consumers on its website without the attorneys’ permission. Intrepid also claimed its Director of Professional Practices and Standards had a lengthy legal career when, in fact, he had been disbarred in 1995. The company and its owner are also charged with deceptive billing practices.
“Marylanders seeking legal assistance should be able to trust that companies are honest about what they offer and who they are,” said Attorney General Brown. “We’re filing this lawsuit because we will not allow companies to deceive consumers at a time when they need help.”
The Attorney General’s lawsuit seeks restitution, as well as penalties, costs, and an injunction against Intrepid and Manoff for alleged violations of Maryland’s Consumer Protection Act. The case is scheduled for a hearing at the Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings beginning on April 7, 2026.
Consumers with complaints regarding Intrepid or Manoff may call the Consumer Protection Division at 410-528-8662, file a complaint online at https://oag.maryland.gov/, or write to the Consumer Protection Division at 200 St. Paul Place, 16th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202.
