Decedent and Officers Identified in Fatal Police-Involved Shooting in Hagerstown

BALTIMORE, MD – The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General has identified the decedent and the Hagerstown Police Department (HPD) officers involved in the fatal police-involved shooting that occurred on Friday, October 23, 2026, in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland.   

The decedent is identified as 60-year-old Maury Jackson of Hagerstown, Maryland. 

The involved HPD officers are identified as Sergeant Thomas Wolfe, an 11-year veteran, and Officer Mason Kiessling, a 1-year veteran. Both officers are assigned to the Patrol Division.
