Salary: This position offers a salary range of $75,475 - $106,636, with potential for advancement up to $117,737 based on qualifications, equity, and hiring guidelines. Initial salary offers are determined by qualifications, experience, and available budget, and typically do not exceed $106,636.

Telework: A hybrid remote telework and in-office schedule option is available per applicable policies and procedures.

DESCRIPTION:  The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has the general charge, supervision, and direction of the State's legal business, acting as legal advisors and representatives of the major agencies, various boards, commissions, officials, and institutions of State Government. The OAG also protects the public by civil enforcement of antitrust, civil rights, consumer protection, and securities laws and regulations and by the prosecution of organized crime, Medicaid fraud, environmental crimes, insurance fraud, state tax evasion, and other statutorily assigned matters. As Maryland's 47th Attorney General, Anthony G. Brown leads the Office with a critical focus on equity, justice, and fairness.

The OAG seeks a detail-oriented and service-driven Law Clerk & Internship Program Administrator to support the planning, coordination, and administration of the internship and clerkship programs. This newly created role centralizes operational responsibility for student and early-career programs, ensuring consistency, compliance, and a positive experience for participants.

The Administrator will manage day-to-day program logistics, maintain relationships with universities and external partners, and collaborate with internal supervisors and HR staff to deliver high-quality, mission-aligned programs.

As the Law Clerk & Internship Program Administrator you will:

Program Coordination & Administration

  • Lead proactive recruitment processes and practices for the Program.
  • Coordinate timelines, onboarding activities, and participant tracking for internship and clerkship programs.
  • Maintain program calendars, placement schedules, and cohort rosters.
  • Assist with annual program planning and data collection.
  • Coordinate posting timelines, application tracking, and partner with supervisors on interview scheduling.
  • Partner with HR and supervisors to ensure equitable and compliant recruitment practices.

University & External Partner Relations

  • Serve as a liaison to universities, law schools, and private law firm partners.
  • Coordinate agreements and partner expectations in collaboration with HR and legal staff.
  • Support outreach activities such as career fairs, information sessions, and other college outreach events.

Program Administration & Compliance

  • Oversee onboarding, orientation, and offboarding processes.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, academic credit requirements, and funding restrictions.
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor stipends or funding allocations.

Supervisor & Participant Support

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for interns and clerks.
  • Provide supervisors with templates and guidance for hosting participants.

Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Collect and compile participation data and feedback.
  • Assist in preparing reports and identifying best practices for program enhancement.

EXPERIENCE:

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: A minimum of six years of experience providing administrative or program coordination support, preferably in an office, educational, nonprofit, or public sector environment. Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Substitution:

Candidates may substitute a possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with law schools, universities, or professional programs.
  • Familiarity with public sector or legal work environments.
